Penn State-bound Samantha Catantan graduated from University of the East high school helping the Junior Warriors win a ninth consecutive girls crown, as their boys team completed a 10-peat.
Behind Catantan's heroics, UE rallied past University of Santo Tomas to win 45-44 in the girls team saber final to claim a a 6-gold sweep, with a 45-30 win over UST in the girls' team epee final Friday at the Paco Arena.
An Asian under-23 gold medalist who will play in the US NCAA Division I school, Catantan emerged as the MVP again.
"Sobrang layo na ng narating na ni Sam," said UE coach Amatov Canlas.
"From UE, to UAAP, tapos na-discover siya sa US, pupunta sa magandang school. Hindi lang Penn State ang nag-recruit sa kaniya. Maraming school, pero ang sabi ko sa kaniya mas maganda sa Penn State, gagaling at tataas ang level mo."
UST and La Salle-Zobel finished second (0-3-6) and third (0-0-3), respectively.
In the boys division, MVP Shawn Felipe powered UE to a 45-9 dismantling of UST in team foil final to cap a five-gold romp.
The Junior Warriors, who also captured two silver and two bronze medals, clinched the title on Thursday.
Ateneo added a boys team foil bronze to its 1-1-4 haul to finish second, while Far Eastern University-Diliman completed the podium with a 0-2-1 tally.
