Garvo Lanete scored 24 points and buried 4 3-pointers to lead Meralco past Phoenix 92-90 in the PBA Philippine Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Phoenix stormed back from 16 points down to take the lead in the third quarter, but Lanete and other Meralco role players stepped up in the fourth to seal the win for the Bolts and snap a 3-game losing streak.

Trailing 75-70 entering the fourth, injury-depleted Meralco went to an unlikely cast of players to bail it out.

Lanete scored 7 in the quarter, including a corner 3-pointer that gave Meralco an 86-81 lead.

Nico Salva made some key baskets early in the fourth, and backup playmaker Anjo Caram added 6 points in the quarter, which saw Meralco outscore Phoenix 22-15 after getting beat 35-16 in the third.

A miss on a potential game-winning 3-pointer by Phoenix's Jeff Chan as time expired sealed Meralco's third win in 6 games.

Cliff Hodge, who left the game after a knee-to-knee collision with Phoenix's Willy Wilson, finished with 17 points.

Wilson led the Fuel Masters with 24 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

Phoenix, which saw star gunner Wright foul out with less than 3 minutes to go, dropped to 4-5 in the standings. Wright ended up with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
