MANILA, Philippines – Defending women's volleyball champion De La Salle University looks to earn a share of the lead in the UAAP Season 80 tournament when it takes on Far Eastern University (FEU) on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Lady Spikers, eyeing a third straight UAAP title, opened their title defense with victories over University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines (UP).

They can join National University (3-0) at the top of the standings with another win over the Lady Tamaraws, who are off to a 1-1 start in the competition.

La Salle has reason to be confident, as they are coming off a straight sets victory over the Lady Maroons. However, head coach Ramil de Jesus warned that they cannot afford to be complacent, given the unpredictable nature of the tournament so far.

"Kailangan talaga paghandaan lahat ng teams," he said. "Kasi, hindi mo masasabi na kayang-kaya namin 'to. Lahat, kailangan talagang paghandaan."

La Salle will be playing an FEU team that is reeling from a five-set loss to Adamson University last Saturday. The Lady Tamaraws have gone the distance in both of their matches this season, beating Ateneo de Manila University in five sets in their first game before falling to Adamson.

"Hopefully, makaka-bounce back kami," said FEU coach George Pascua, whose players had no answer for Adamson's Jema Galanza in the fifth set.

The key for FEU, according to Pascua, is to be consistent. The Lady Tamaraws' performances have fluctuated in their first two games so far, and they have yet to find a third scorer who can take the pressure off Bernadeth Pons and Chinchin Basas.

"Consistency lang talaga ang nagiging problema namin," said Pascua.

Game time is at 4 p.m.

In the first game at 2 p.m., the Adamson Lady Falcons hopes to make it two wins in a row when they take on UP.
