Three-time defending champion Arellano University assured itself of at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals after drubbing Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-15, 25-14, 25-20, in NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Thursday.
Bannering the Lady Chiefs’ seventh win in eight starts were Carla Donato and reigning Most Valuable Player Necole Ebuen, with the team’s leading scorer Regine Arocha sitting out the match.
With Arocha riding the bench the whole game to rest, Donato and Ebuen took over the scoring duties with 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Arellano, which will try to secure the final four bonus in a marquee showdown with unbeaten College of Saint Benilde (7-0) on Monday.
