If there will be no Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch, Keith “One Time” Thurman believes he can be a suitable alternative for Manny Pacquiao.
The WBA “super” welterweight title holder finds it apt to be taking on Pacquiao, who is the WBA “regular” welterweight king.
“I want to fight Manny Pacquiao,” Thurman said in Boxing Scene. “Imagine what Pacquiao-Thurman is going to look like? He looked well at the age of 40. He looked strong.”
The “Pacman” has recently retained his crown with a lopsided decision against Adrien Broner. Thurman said Broner lost because he was intimidated by Pacquiao’s punching power.
“By the way Broner was fighting, he was respecting the power,” he said.
Thurman, for his part, has won a 12-round majority decision over Josesito Lopez.
He is open to take on Pacquiao at any time convenient for the Filipino champ.
“I’d be willing to negotiate a fight for anytime he deems fit -- summer, after the summer, September, October. I think it would be a great fight for the sport. Let’s make it happen,” said Thurman.
“When’s the last time Pacquiao fought an undefeated fighter?”
