MANILA, Philippines – Akari-Adamson University whipped Che'Lu Bar&Grill-San Sebastian College, 84-75, on Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Jerrick Ahanmisi paced the Falcons with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists despite shooting 2-of-11 from threes as they improved to 3-1, good for solo third place.
Jonathan Espeleta also sustained his form with 15 markers, three dimes, and two boards, Egie Boy Mojica chipped in 12 points, and Cameroonian center Papi Sarr registered a double-double of 11 markers and 10 rebounds.
Despite the big victory, coach Franz Pumaren isn’t putting too much thought on the win.
“We still have a lot of hard work to do. I’m stressing that we’ve only been together for one month, and we’re still not in that great of a basketball shape right now,” he said. “As you can see, there’s still a lot of lapses because some of our rookies are still getting used to our adjustments.”
Ahanmisi guided Akari-Adamson in the second half, dropping nine markers in the third frame before his teammates followed suit and established the commanding 69-54 edge early in the fourth quarter.
Samboy De Leon and Alfred Batino led the Revellers with 14 points each.
Che’Lu-San Sebastian has now lost back-to-back games to drop to 2-3.
