Kaya FC relied on a late surge to defeat Shan United 2-0 in the AFC Cup opener in Yangon, Myanmar on Wednesday.

It took 74 minutes before anybody could score, as Jovin Bedic's penalty — a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner — put the visitors ahead at Thuwanna YTC Stadium.

Eric Giganto scored the insurance goal 11 minutes later, courtesy of an Arnel Amita assist, as the Iloilo club secured solo first place in their bracket.

Fellow Group H clubs Tampines Rovers (Singapore) and PSM Makassar (Indonesia) were still playing as of posting time.

On Tuesday, Ceres Negros defended home field by routing Svay Rieng 4-0 in Group G play at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
