Following a 3-set victory over Jose Rizal University that gave them a sure seat in the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball semis on Friday, the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers are now eyeing a loftier target.
Saint Benilde is now setting its sights on a twice-to-beat advantage in the semis or an outright finals seat if it hurdles its last 2 assignments.
The Lady Blazers battles Mapua and 3-time defending champion Arellano before they close out the elimination round.
“Mindset pa rin namin ’yung last two games namin maging pulido pa rin ang galaw ng mga bata,” said CSB assistant coach Jay Chua in an article posted on ABS-CBN Sports.
After trailing early in the third set, the Lady Blazers uncorked a 6-0 run to take the lead before fending off another comeback by the Lady Bombers to remain unbeaten.
The Lady Blazers came away with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-20 win for their seventh straight victory.
Rookie sensations Gayle Pascual and Mycah Go each had 8 points, while veteran Klarisa Abriam added 7 points in the decisive third set.
Renesa Melgar had 8 points while Dolly Verosa was limited to only 7 markers for the Lady Bombers. — With a report from Mark Escarlote, ABS-CBN Sports
