Tim Cone hopes the wind changes directions for Barangay Ginebra with Joe Devance's return in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Ginebra (3-4) has struggled in its past games and most recently bowed to NLEX 81-78.
Cone said Devance's anticipated comeback could give the squad a turnaround it desperately needs.
Although Devance won’t be around in Ginebra's game against Kia on Wednesday, Cone projected his prized forward to return over the weekend.
The Ginebra-Kia game is at 7 p.m. at Mall of Asia Arena, following the TNT-Phoenix tussle at 4:30 p.m.
“We had a target date: February 15th, but it looks like he might be able to be back sooner, so we’ll see,” Cone said in an interview on Spin.ph.
“But not (Wednesday). Maybe Sunday he’ll play.”
Devance hasn't played since undergoing foot surgery in the offseason, but he isn't the only one missing time.
Greg Slaughter (hamstring) isn't 100%, while Sol Mercado and Aljon Mariano are dealing with ankle issues.
“We’re hoping we can get everything right at the right time. But in the meantime, we got to continue to try to win games, and we can’t let this Kia game slip, because we might get healthy and then have nothing to play for,” Cone said.
