MANILA, Philippines – Rod Ebondo flirted with a triple-double, and Centro Escolar University (CEU) came away with a lopsided 105-88 triumph over Che'Lu Bar&Grill-San Sebastian College on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.
The Revellers had no answer for Ebondo, who compiled 28 points, 23 rebounds, and eight blocks to lead CEU to its second win in as many games.
He got plenty of support from CEU's bench, as Orlan Wamar fired 18 points while Rich Guinitaran and Judel Fuentes each contributed 14 markers.
"Ebondo played his A-game," said CEU coach Yong Garcia, who was clearly pleased at the performance of the 22-year-old slotman.
"Hopefully, we can play this way in our succeeding games," added the coach as he also heaped praise on his bench.
Ebondo had 11 points in the first half, and with Guinitaran and Fuentes also finding their rhythm, CEU opened up a 51-42 halftime lead.
Alfred Batino pulled Che'Lu to within seven points, 57-64, midway through the third quarter, but Ebondo sparked a 13-4 exchange that restored a double-digit CEU lead, 77-61, late in the period.
CEU made 42 of 79 field goals, including 12 three-pointers as they got away with 21 turnovers.
San Sebastian lost for the second time in the conference, dropping to a 2-2 win-loss slate.
Kent Ilagan paced Che'Lu-San Sebastian with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals while Allyn Bulanadi had 13 points off the bench.
