MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATED) In a brutal development, young NLEX guard Kevin Alas has suffered another ACL tear — in the same knee that he also injured last year.
Sources confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Alas had suffered the injury on his right knee after a bad fall in the Road Warriors’ game against Meralco last Saturday.
The injury came with just minutes left to play in what turned out to be an 87-83 win for NLEX, with Alas scoring 12 points.
Alas told reporters after the game that he felt “fine,” but immediately had an MRI done.
NLEX confirmed Alas’s injury on Monday evening.
“According to our medical team, Kevin will be out of action for several months as he goes through another round of surgery and therapy,” the team said.
Alas also tore the ACL on his right knee on March 2018, during the semis of the PBA Philippine Cup against Magnolia. He missed the rest of the season.
Incidentally, both injuries occurred in the same venue — the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
