MANILA, Philippines – San Beda University rose to solo fourth in the NCAA Season 95 women's volleyball tournament after making quick work of Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Cesca Racraquin and Nieza Viray took charge in the Lady Red Spikers 25-15, 25-16, 27-25 win that snapped a two-game slide and kept them in the hunt for a spot in the Final 4.

Racraquin finished with 22 points on 18 kills and 3 aces, on top of 7 receptions and 9 digs. Viray contributed 13 points.

"I'm happy na na-break 'yung slump and hopefully, tuloy-tuloy na," said Racraquin.

Viray had the match-clinching kill that closed out the extended third frame, while Kim Manzano had two blocks to finish with seven points for the Lady Red Spikers.

With its fourth win in six matches, San Beda is now half a game ahead of idle Colegio de San Juan de Letran (3-2) in the race for the last semifinals spot.

The Lady Red Spikers are also within striking distance of University Perpetual Help and defending champion Arellano University. Both teams have 5-1 records for second place.

"Kailangang talagang trabahuin 'yung mga remaining games," said Lady Red Spikers mentor Mesio Gavino.

Cathrine Almazan had 10 points and 12 digs for the still-winless Lady Generals (0-6).

San Beda fielded in some of its reserves in the third set, allowing EAC to gain the upper hand.

As they could not get the job done, Gavino put his starters back in the game, and the Lady Red Spikers played catch-up for most of the way before outlasting the Lady Generals.

In the men's division, Joshua Miña came through with 24 points, 18 receptions and eight digs as EAC joined Perpetual on top at 6-0 following a 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19 win over San Beda.

In juniors action, Zandro Pasayloon scored all but one of his 23 points from spikes as San Beda pinned EAC its first loss of the season, while improving its own record to 4-2 with a 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17 victory.
