NCAA volleyball: Perpetual Help one win away from men’s, juniors titles

University of Perpetual Help banked on its championship experience and mental toughness down the stretch to survive College of Saint Benilde 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12 in Game 1 of the NCAA men’s volleyball finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Friday.

The Altas crawled out of a 1-2 match hole and showed nerves of steel in the tight fifth set to preserve their unbeaten streak that extended to 10 straight games.

Game 2 is set Friday next week.

In the juniors division, Perpetual cruised past Letran, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19, to move within one win from completing a five-peat.
