For Danny Kingad, his upcoming cage battle against Wei Xie of China on Friday is a chance to redeem himself.
Kingad, who lost in a spirited fight with Demetrious Johnson, said it’s like going back to start again, only in a positive way.
“Para sa akin, parang back to zero, climb another mountain ulit para tumaas tayo,” said the “King” during ONE Championship’s open workout for ONE: Fire and Fury.
Kingad said he has learned a lot from his match against Johnson, a former MMA pound-for-pound king.
“Madami akong napag-aralan doon. First yung mga techniques, yung mga ‘di ko nagawa nung last fight tine-train ko ngayon,” he said.
These valuable lessons will be useful when he faces Wei.
“After ng fight ko kay DJ, pinag-aralan kong lahat ng mistakes ko. ‘Yung mga pinag-aralan ko, ‘yun na ang gagawin ko,” said Kingad.
Kingad added that Wei may be a good striker. But he feels he’s much better than his Chinese foe.
“Alam kong magaling siya, but I’m better.”
Kingad will take on Wei in ONE: Fire and Fury, which will also feature Joshua Pacio's strawweight title defense against Brazil's Alex Silva.
