MANILA, Philippines -- Rising Pinoy MMA star Lito Adiwang knows Thai star striker Pongsiri Mitsasit has lost to his Team Lakay compatriot, ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio, a year ago.
But he doesn’t underestimate the Thai fighter, knowing that Pongsiri has done some improvements to his fight game.
“Oo, tinalo siya ng teammate ko. But it was a year back. Alam namin na nag-improve din siya. Alam namin kung anong pwedeng mamgyari,” Adiwang said on Tuesday’s open workout, 4 days before ONE: Fire and Fury.
“Kaya naghanda kami in all levels, so tingnan natin, I’ll do all my best.”
Adiwang, one of the most explosive fighters to come out of Team Lakay after Kevin Belingon, is also expecting Pongisiri to stick on what he does best which is striking.
The Filipino said he’d likely fight fire with fire.
“Si Pongsiri is a very good striker dahil muay Thai ang base niya, but I got the tools. Alam natin kung paano i-beat ang muay Thai niya. May striking din tayo, so we’ll see,” said Adiwang.
Nicknamed the “Thunder Kid,” Adiwang plans to impress Pinoy fans with a crowd-pleasing performance.
It will be his second fight in Manila, but this one is different since he’s fighting in a major MMA promotion.
“I’ll still bring excitement, energy to this fight. The main thing that I’ll bring is victory. I want to win, win this fight for the crowd,” said Adiwang.
