MANILA, Philippines – Three-time defending champion Arellano University defeated Jose Rizal University (JRU), 25-19, 25-16, 25-17, to stay unbeaten in the NCAA Season 95 women's volleyball tournament, Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Regine Arocha was superb on both ends of the floor, putting up 12 points and 15 digs. Carla Donato added 10 points, while Princess Bello scored three of her eight points from the service line.

Arellano uncorked 36 kills, putting the Lady Bombers' usually efficient net defense in disarray.

"Kung kaya ninyong pigilin sa ibabaw, gawin natin," said Lady Chiefs coach Obet Javier.

"Maganda naman ang naging resulta, 'yung mga middle blocker ko, kahit hindi gaanong ka-effective sa palo, pero 'yung sa block, dahil matangkad, nagagamit 'yung laki nila," he noted.

JRU veteran Dolly Verzosa was limited to just eight points, her lowest output of the season. Renesa Melgar and Mary May Ruiz each had five points each.

The Lady Bombers lost for the second time in three games.

In the men's play, Jesrael Liberato tallied 16 points as Arellano joined titleholder University of Perpetual Help System Dalta on top at 3-0 following a 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16 conquest of JRU.

The Braves also joined the six-peat seeking Junior Altas for the juniors lead, extending their unbeaten streak to three with a 25-10, 25-21, 25-18 win over the Light Bombers.
