MANILA, Philippines – NLEX guard Jericho Cruz received a call-up to Guam's 24-man national team pool for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
The list also includes Chris Conner, the guard from University of the East.
Cruz, 29, grew up in Saipan before returning to the Philippines where he played collegiate basketball for Rizal Technological University and eventually, Adamson University.
"Of course, it's a blessing," said Cruz. "Every player would want to play internationally."
"One of my dreams talaga is to play for the Philippines, but luck isn't on my side here. I know it's gonna be a great experience too, so I can carry it over when I play for NLEX," he added.
Another former Adamson guard, Will Stinnett, also made the 24-man pool.
Guam is grouped with Australia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand in the qualifiers that start next month.
