June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos each finished with a double-double and San Miguel Beer came up big in the clutch to beat NLEX 109-98 in the PBA Philippine Cup at Cuneta Astrodome on Friday.
The Beermen held the lead in the fourth quarter, but they didn't take control of the game until Santos started to heat up.
He drilled a 3-pointer to give San Miguel an 84-80 cushion just as NLEX threatened, then when the Beermen looked to finish off the Road Warriors Santos delivered the dagger triple to put them ahead 103-89 with 2:24 remaining.
All in all Santos scored 13 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter to go along with 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
Fajardo churned out 25 points and 16 rebounds for San Miguel, which raised its record to a league-leading 4-0.
NLEX fell to its third straight loss after winning two straight.
