MANILA, Philippines – Coca-Cola's Asi Taulava garnered his second citation as KFC/Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week (for the period Jan. 11 to 17) after steering the Tigers to two consecutive wins.
According to PBA.ph, Taulava was one of the main factors why the Tigers were able to make it to the wildcard phase.
Taulava, however, said the credit does not only belong to him. He also cited the contribution of his entire team, including coach Bo Perasol and team manager JB Baylon.
“I appreciate the recognition, but I have to give the credit to coach Bo and the team for bringing the best out of me. Also, to Boss JB for always being there for the team and his all-out support,” the Fil-Tongan told PBA.ph.
Taulava posted impressive averages of 20.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in Coca Cola’s wins over San Miguel Beer and Rain or Shine.
“He has been a steady presence for us on both ends of the floor. He inspires intensity and enthusiasm in practice and during the game,” said Perasol.
With these victories, Coke improved its win-loss slate to 5-12.
