MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University's one-and-done standout Jamie Malonzo and Gilas Pilipinas pool member Jaydee Tungcab banner the list of hopefuls who have declared for the 2020 PBA D-League Draft.
A total of 137 players submitted their names for the event, to be held on Monday at the PBA Office in Libis.
The 6-foot-6 Malonzo, 23, burst into the scene through his short stint with the Green Archers that saw him earn a spot in the Mythical Team in UAAP Season 82.
Tungcab, 22, is a 6-foot-3 guard who played sparingly for University of the Philippines (UP) but was nevertheless included by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas into the national team pool.
The two are expected to be picked in the first round.
For the fourth year in a row, AMA Online Education will select first.
Also joining the draft are former Batang Gilas standout Jollo Go, ex-UAAP Juniors MVP Jerie Pingoy, Cebuano standouts Darrell Menina and Jaybie Mantilla, former Centro Escolar University scorer Judel Fuentes, and University of the East forward John Apacible.
From the field, 17 are Fil-foreigners led by Malonzo, former La Salle shooter Joshua Torralba, and UP's James Spencer, David Murrell, and JJ Espanola.
Players from Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League have also applied, including Yves Sazon and King Destacamento.
