John Wilson led San Juan-Go-for-Gold to a 109-99 shellacking of Pasig-Sta. Lucia in the 2019-20 Chooks-to-Go/MPBL Lakan Cup while setting a personal milestone at the FilOil Flying V Centre, Saturday.
Wilson, who needed to score only 4 points to join the 1,000-point club, connected from long distance in the 4:35 mark of the first quarter to become the first MPBL player to set the record.
The former Jose Rizal University standout finished with 24 points in the game for a total 1,020 points in his tally.
Wilson also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while ensuring San Juan's grip of the top spot in the Northern Division with a 22-3 win-loss record.
Wilson teamed up with Mike Ayonayon to post an 11-point lead, 56-45, heading into the third quarter.
San Juan then maintained its hold on the lead despite Pasig's repeated rallies.
Ayonayon ended up with 18 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists.
Jeric Teng paced Pasig with 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Realtors fell to 14-11, tied with Caloocan in the seventh spot also in the Northern Division.
