PBA, UAAP stars complete Gilas pool for FIBA Asia Cup

MANILA - Amateur players, mostly from the UAAP, are joining pro basketball players of the country to build the 24-man lineup of Gilas for the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers as released by Samahan ng Basketbol ng Pilipinas on Friday.

Leading the pack is returning Gilas Marc Pingris along with 2013 World Cup teammate Japeth Aguilar. The two lead nine other PBA players in the lineup. 

Pingris and Aguilar will be joined by Kiefer Ravena, Poy Erram, RR Pogoy, Christian Standhardinger, CJ Perez, Mac Belo, Matthew Wright, Troy Rosario, and Ray Parks. 

Three-time UAAP champion Thirdy Ravena, on the other hand, leads the 13 non-pro athletes in the lineup which include Ateneo teammates Matt and Mike Nieto, who were both tapped in the Gilas draft last December. 

Isaac Go, Rey Suerte, and Allyn Bulandi also booked early seats in the national team pool. UP Fighting Maroons' Jaydee Tungcab, Juan Gomez De Liano, and Kobe Paras will work it out with Dave Ildefonso, Javi Gomez De Liano, Dwight Ramos, and Justine Baltazar in the pool. 

June Mar Fajardo is nowhere in the list.

The first window of the Asia Cup Qualifiers will be played from February 17-25, 2020.
