Aghon maintains strength, storm signals remain in Luzon

MANILA — Typhoon Aghon has maintained its strength while moving northeastward over the Philippine Sea, weather bureau PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. bulletin Monday. 

"At 10 a.m. Monday, Typhoon Aghon was located 100 km east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora with max winds of 140 kph and gusts up to 170 kph. It is moving northeastward at 10 kph," PAGASA said.

The center of the eye of the typhoon was estimated to be at 100 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora, based on data from Baler and Daet Doppler Weather Radars. 

Wind Signal No. 2 and No. 1 remain in effect over eastern Luzon.

The southeastern portion of Isabela (Dinapigue, Palanan), and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran)


Signal No. 1:

The northeastern and southern portions of Isabela (Divilacan, San Mariano, San Guillermo, Jones, Echague, San Agustin, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, City of Cauayan, Maconacon, Angadanan, Naguilian), the eastern portion of Quirino (Maddela, Nagtipunan, Aglipay), the southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castaneda), the rest of Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real) including Polillo Islands, and the northwestern portion of Camarines Norte (Paracale, Jose Panganiban, Vinzons, Capalonga) including Calaguas Islands

 

Aghon is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday afternoon or evening.
