Disciplining children comes in many forms. But for Bantay Bata, parents must guide and teach their children without resorting to physical abuse.

The goal of disciplining a child is the common excuse given by parents who inflict physical harm on their children.

"Ang discipline ay showing what is wrong in teaching what is right," said Percy Cruz, health and wellness supervisor for Bantay Bata.

Cruz said hitting a child to correct a negative behavior only worsens the problem.

On the other hand, Cruz said that good communication prevents conflict in a parent-child relationship.

"Ang bata kasi, much is caught than taught. Mas marami siyang sa kanyang sight, mas marami siyang napupulot kesa yung itinuturo sa kanya directly. Kaya yung magulang, yung gusto niyang lumabas na behavior sa child, pwede niyang i-model or i-demonstrate yun eh," added Cruz.

After ten years of saving children from their abusive environment, Bantay Bata continues to serve Filipino families, guiding them to becoming a nurturing place for children.
