The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Cross Saber Fraternity announced Wednesday that it had elected new alumni officers in its first-ever online voting process.

Newly-elected Officers of the Board include Dr. Jesus Roderick C. Tuazon (Class 1985) as National Commander; Emil Padilla (Class 1987) as Vice National Commander; Dr. Jimmy Tamayo for Second Vice National Commander (Class 1971); Dionicris Mondia (Class of 1992) as Secretary General; and Gregorio Cayabyab (Class of 1989) for Treasurer.

Meanwhile, other elected officers include Joyce de la Cruz (Class of 2007) for Auditor; Philippine Army Major Ferdinand de la Cruz (Class of 1989) as Protocol Officer; Eduardo Reyes (Class of 1989) as Provost Marshall; Atty. Andrew James Ibarra as Liaison Officer; and Jomar de la Pena as Public Relations Officer.

The officers will be sworn in during a formal ceremony at the "Bahay ni Tuna" Restaurant in Dagupan City on April 18 at 6 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend the occasion.

Chairman Emeritus retired Brigadier General Carlos Malana of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) served as witness to the casting of votes last March 29 at the UST Department of Military Science and Tactics Office. The fraternity even implemented an online voting scheme so that members from abroad could cast their votes.

The fraternity, founded in September 1938, is the alumni association of the UST Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Golden Corps of Cadets. (For further information on the event, please contact Bro. Depp Mondia at 09175811864 or Jomar dela Pena at 09053520655
