MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN has set up a Kapamilya 24-hour helpline for people who have friends or relatives in Japan, which has been hit by a massive earthquake and a tsunami.

The helpline has received around hundreds of calls from people since Saturday night.

The calls are coming not only within the country but also overseas.

ABS-CBN/Kapamilya Helpline: (trunkline) 411-0011, 411-0012, 415-2272; (Smart) 09294447372; (Globe) 09276760652.

The Kapamilya helpline website
, meanwhile, has received more than 100 posts.

Many people are worried for their relatives in Japan, whom they have no contacted yet either over the phone or the internet since the earthquake hit.

Some also received calls from their relatives who have informed them that they are safe.

The Kapamilya helpline aims to help ease the anxiety of people who have friends in Japan by getting information about the whereabouts of Filipinos in the disaster-hit country.

It will also inform the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine embassy, and consulates in Japan about the people who can't be reached.
