Guns and protests

Police officers point their guns at protesters in Tseun Wan in Hong Kong on Sunday during the latest opposition protests to a planned extradition law that has since morphed into a wider call for democratic rights in the semi-autonomous city. Hong Kong police officers fired at least one gunshot on August 25 after the latest pro-democracy rally descended into violent clashes. It is believed to be the first time a live round has been fired by police in three months of escalating violence that has rocked the financial hub.
