A Filipino accused of plotting a mass shooting at a local Islamic center has been denied bail by a judge in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bernandino Bolatete, 69, was described by the judge as a "serious, serious danger" to the community.
Authorities recently arrested Bolatete for possessing an unregistered firearm silencer, after an investigation confirmed that he was making plans to carry out the shooting.
In Bolatete’s first court appearance Tuesday, prosecutors said FBI agents found 2500 rounds of ammunition and 12 guns in Bolatete’s possession.
Prosecutors also argued that Bolatete was a flight risk as he was not a US citizen, and still has family in the Philippines.
Bolatete remains behind bars and is due back in court on December 12 for a preliminary hearing.
