MANILA (UPDATED) -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it is verifying social media posts saying some Filipinos were allegedly among those arrested in a Halloween party in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato said they have seen the viral social media posts but added that they need an official report from the Philippine embassy in Riyadh.

The netizen who posted the viral video claimed that 19 Filipino women and 5 other men of different nationalities organized the "forbidden" party in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed that 17 overseas Filipino workers were arrested.

He also said the OFWs arrested were merely attending the party and were not the organizers.

Bello said he has already instructed Filipino officials in Riyadh to monitor the situation.
