MANILA- All Filipinos in Haiti are safe following the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that hit the Caribbean country over the weekend, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday.
Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez said none of the estimated 500 Filipinos in Haiti were reported to be among the dead or injured.
He added the situation is continuously being monitored by Philippine Honorary Consul General Fitzgerald Brandt, and assured assistance for Filipinos that may have been affected by the temblor.
The DFA meanwhile extended its condolences to Haiti following the earthquake that left at least 12 people dead and over 180 others injured.
