MANILA - The Filipino woman allegedly killed by her Swedish husband died due to "severe beating," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

Mailyn Conde Sinambong, a 28-year-old mother of 2 boys, "succumbed to injuries she sustained after she was severely beaten allegedly by her husband," the DFA said in a statement.

Sinambong was married to 50-year old Swedish actor-director Steve Abou Bakr Aalam.

The Filipina was reportedly killed on September 23 in Sweden.

"Aalam has been taken into custody and will be charged with murder," the DFA said.

It said Consul General Ma. Elena Algabre has flown in from Oslo, Norway to Stockholm "to help make arrangements for the repatriation of Mailyn’s remains and meet with the lawyer and prosecutor handling the case."
