Friends of Filipino magician Mark Beltran are trying to raise funds for him after he and his friends were assaulted by a gang in Dublin on Friday, September 9.

A GoFundMe campaign for Beltran recounted, he and three of his friends were attacked and Beltran was hit on the face with a bottle, severely injuring his right eye.

"He has undergone surgery in Mater Hospital in Dublin. We still hold out hope for a miracle, but doctors have told Mark that the wound on the eye was severe, and that he will not likely recover sight in his eye," wrote Beltran's friends.

They said, although it appears that medical costs will be covered, Beltran will be facing financial challenges, including travel back to the Philippines and not being able to work for the next few months.

"Besides the outpouring of love and prayers, which is wonderful, if you can find it in your heart to make a contribution to his fund, we would be so grateful," the GoFundMe campaign said.

"Together we can help our friend by taking one of his concerns off the table: his immediate expenses as he navigates this difficult time. Together we can make sure Magic Mark gets back to his magic making ways," it added.

The GoFundMe campaign has so far raised $6,191 of the $15k goal.

Beltran hails from the Philippines and has been performing in Vancouver for several years now after obtaining a Masters Class degree in magic at the Mcbride Mystery school in Las Vegas.
