A Filipina working in Dubai was recently honored by the Dubai Police for returning a bag containing cash and checks amounting to over P9.9 million.
In late August, the Dubai Police went to the Starbucks outlet at the Dubai Mall, where 27-year old Mae Anne Olmidillo was a branch manager, to personally laud her for her honesty.
"When I found the money, hindi po ako nagdalawang isip ibalik yung pera sa nagmamay-ari. Hindi po akin yun at alam ko may return si God para sa akin. Maraming salamat po," said Olmidillo.
(I never had second thoughts about returning the money. That money wasn't mine, and I know God has something else in store for me.)
Police said Olmidillo handed over a bag containing Dh195,000 cash and two checks worth a total of Dh506,250, a check book and other documents left at the coffee shop by their customer.
"Mrs. Olmidillo contributed to the return of those items to its owner," the Dubai Police said on Instagram.
The incident happened on April 18.
"Dubai Police has a habit of springing surprises on community members for their honesty, good conduct, or even for following traffic rules," the police added.
Aside from a certificate, the Pinay also received a small token from the police.
