MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is searching for a Filipina domestic worker who has been missing in Kuwait for 18 months.

Ronalyn Yonting Lawagan was reported to have ran away from her Kuwaiti employer. She last contacted her family in February 2017.

In a statement, the DFA said it only learned about Lawagan's case in April 2018 after her recruiting agencies reported her disappearance to the Philippine Embassy.

Chargé d’Affaires Mohammad Nordin Pendosina N. Lomondot said they have sought the assistance of Kuwaiti authorities in locating the missing Filipina.

According to travel records, Lawagan could still be in Kuwait because she has not exited the Gulf state.

Philippine embassy personnel have also visited local prisons and hospitals to look for Lawagan. An online appeal of her whereabouts was also made.

"We are requesting our kababayan who may know where Ronalyn is to immediately inform us so we can assist her,” Lomondot said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Office of Public Diplomacy in Manila at +632-834-4483 and the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait at +965-6500-2612.
