MANILA - Former US Secretary Madeleine Albright, who is in the Philippines for a lecture on global governance on Wednesday, helped blaze the trail for female diplomats, a Filipino envoy said.
Albright was the the US first female top diplomat, paving the way for ex-secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Her many achievements include the first ever visit of a US secretary of state to North Korea and working for the inclusion of former soviet republics into the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance.
"She broke the glass ceiling. I'm sure she has paved the way for more women to become diplomats," former Philippine ambassador to the UN Jose Cuisia Jr told ANC's Headstart.
"She comes across as someone (with) a very strong willed personality," he said.
