MANILA (UPDATE) - The world's tallest skyscraper on Wednesday night lit up with colors of the Philippine flag as the country celebrates its 121st independence from the Spanish rule.

A crowd of Filipinos erupted in cheers when Dubai's 160-storey Burj Khalifa was bathed in red, white and blue lights, accentuated by 3 stars and the sun.

Some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) traveled to Dubai to witness the brief light show on the iconic tower.
