A body found on Monday in Placer County’s American River was likely to be that of missing Filipino-American Ray Cabalfin.
According to Cabalfin’s family, they received a call on Monday evening from Placer County sheriff’s officials informing them that two hikers found his body 3 miles downstream from where he was last seen.
A dramatic video captured the moments in which Cabalfin was swept away by the American River’s current on May 11 after jumping into it near Clark’s Pool in Auburn.
While the Placer County Coroner’s Division said the body was yet to be formally identified, authorities claim they are “ninety-nine percent sure that the body found is him.”
