TEXAS - Filipino-Americans who live close to Santa Fe High School were concerned over a school shooting that claimed at least 10 lives.

Students were starting Friday classes when an alarm bell sounded and gunshots rang out.

“Nakakatakot. I have four kids, they’re all in school and hindi mo na alam kung may place na safe like school, mall, church, anywhere. Talagang, I’m always worried everyday,” said Eds Pineda Carranto.

Authorities said 17-year old student Dimitrios Pagourtzis was arrested while explosives were also discovered around the campus.

"It’s very troubling. I’m very sad for the parents who lost their kids today. You know, these things happen so frequently these days. As a mother of kids who are in school, I’m scared,” added another parent, Zim Lovern.
