DFA: COVID-19 recoveries of Filipinos abroad top 600

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday reported that 66 more Filipinos abroad have recovered from COVID-19, raising the toll to 640.

The disease has so far infected 2,178 and killed 253 Filipino migrants, the agency said.

“Based on the reports received today, most of the confirmed cases among our nationals are found in Europe and Middle East. Most recoveries are reported in the Asia and Pacific, and most number of deaths in the Americas,” the DFA said in a statement.

As of Saturday, some 1,285 confirmed COVID-19 cases are undergoing treatment for the disease. It is broken down as follows by regions -- 147 in the Asia Pacific Region, 414 in Europe, 531 in the Middle East and Africa and 193 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, COVID-19 has so far sickened 10,610 people, of whom 704 died while 1,842 recovered.
