1,751 overseas Filipinos test positive for COVID-19: DFA

MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is now at 1,751, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Sunday.

The disease has also killed 210 Filipinos abroad. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries is now at 471.

As of Sunday, 1,070 of the identified cases are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down regionally as follows: 163 in the Asia-Pacific, 332 in Europe, 328 in the Middle East and Africa, and 247 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the coronavirus disease has so far infected 9,223 people, with 607 deaths and 1,214 recoveries.

The Philippine government earlier started repatriating Filipinos overseas who wished to come home amid the pandemic. It prepared facilities where the migrants could spend the 14-day quarantine before returning to their respective hometowns.
