ALBERTA, Canada – Filipino restaurant Mama Nita’s Binalot reopened to the public last week after being investigated by the Alberta Health Services (AHS) for e.coli contamination.
The restaurant was closed for almost two weeks.
The AHS is now probing the source of the e.coli outbreak. Twenty-one out of the 34 cases were linked to Mama Nita’s Binalot restaurant.
Alberta health officials have acknowledged steps taken by Mama Nita’s Binalot, saying the owners have worked closely with them to improve safety and reduce risk by increasing hand hygiene measures, food safety re-education for staff, some minor renovations and close monitoring of food handling practices.
