MANILA - The total number of Filipinos abroad with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) soared over 1,000 after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 94 new cases on Tuesday.
The DFA said in a statement that the tally of infected Filipinos overseas is now at 1,084, including 153 deaths and 269 recoveries.
"Based on the updated figures, the rate of new recoveries and new deaths as of today are at 2.28 percent and 6.99 percent, respectively," it said.
The remaining 662 are still getting treatment, the department added.
According to the DFA, 42 countries or regions have cases of Filipinos with COVID-19.
Europe has the most number of cases with 371, followed by the Asia-Pacific Region with 279. The Americas have 278 cases while the Middle East/Africa region has 156.
The DFA said it will continue to monitor Filipinos abroad and assured it will provide assistance "whenever possible, and helping those who wish to be repatriated in this time of pandemic."
