MANILA- The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia is monitoring the condition of 55 Filipinos who tested positive for COVID-19, Manila's envoy Charles Jose said Friday.
Nine of the patients have been discharged from the hospital while 46 are still undergoing treatment, Jose said.
"Minomonitor po ng embassy ang kanilang status and safety on a daily basis," Jose said in a virtual press briefing.

Only 1 of the 55 Filipinos is not from the Philippines, Jose said. The rest came only to Malaysia to attend a tabligh gathering or a Muslim convention.
The ambassador said the Philippine Embassy would help the Filipinos return to the Philippines after their COVID-19 treatment.
"Siguro once matapos po ang treatment nila, tutulungan po namin sila para marepatriate po at makabalik ng Pilipinas," he said.

Malaysia last week started a partial lockdown following a spike in COVID-19 cases.
