An all-star cast of theater veterans star in a play about pregnant Filipinas seeking better lives for their children in the US.
Written by Boni Alvarez and directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, "America Adjacent" features an all-Filipina cast.
The play gives a rare opportunity to center Filipino stories starring Filipino actresses.
G. Tongi, one of the producers, hopes the play will be an eye-opener for fellow Filipinos.
"I’m hoping that the audience when they come to see "America Adjacent" is that they understand how important it is to tell our stories, right?" she said.
The play has received good reviews, making its cast feel excited about telling more Filipino stories.
America Adjacent is performed at Skylight Theater on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until March 24.
