Women's group holds reading session in Dubai 1

MANILA - Advocacy group Filipina Women's Network (FWN) held a reading session in Dubai on Friday on the commemoration of the International Women’s Day.

Five FWN awardees read excerpts of their stories published in the leadership book series "DISRUPT," which compiles inspirational journeys of Filipina women around the world.

They were Dr. Mary Jane Alvero (FWN Global Awardee 2013, 2017), Dr. Wafa Qasimieh (FWN Global Awardee 2014), Rachel Salinel (FWN Global Awardee 2016), and Cristina Calaguian and Roxane Negrillo (both FWN Global Awardees of 2017).

The reading session was held at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai that was attended by some 100 women.

FWN is a US based non-profit, non-partisan global advocacy organization that seeks to increase the power and influence of Filipina women as leaders and policy makers at all levels in corporate, government and institutions to achieve economic and social justice and women’s rights. 

The network recognizes inspirational women every year worldwide with the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award (Global FWN100). 

ABS-CBN Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast Cory V. Vidanes and ABS-CBN Chief Operating Officer of Star Creatives Malou N. Santos were awardees in 2016.
