A Filipino woman was killed last week when her vehicle was struck by a carjacker in Chicago.
The victim was identified as Perla Carandang, 69-years old.
Carandang was hit by 29-year-old Michael Jorgensen, who was driving a vehicle he had carjacked.
Carandang, who lived in Chicago, was pronounced dead at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police said Jorgensen tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines, and had a blood alcohol level of .257.
Jorgensen has been charged with three felonies -- murder, vehicular hijacking and aggravated DUI resulting in an accident/death.
He is scheduled to return to court on March 8th.
The Chicago Police Department announced earlier this month that there is an interagency task force which aims to address the rise of carjacking issues in the city.
