MANILA - A sexual misconduct scandal rocking British charity organization Oxfam has not affected its operations in Asia, the group's director in the region assured.

Speaking to ANC Wednesday, Oxfam regional director Lan Mercado said the aid group has already placed reforms within the organization to prevent such incident from happening.

"Much more important is to make sure we are addressing the organizational culture that provides breeding ground for certain attitudes towards women. All of these efforts are being rolled out now," she said.

It was earlier reported that that some of Oxfam's staff members paid for sex while working among the people in Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake.

Mercado said the organization welcomes the scrutiny and Oxfam treats this as a wake-up call to improve in their work.

"It gives us more pressure to push for changes that we want to happen in Oxfam to become much better organization," she said.
