LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Filipino Donald Trump supporters in Southern Nevada are jubilant to witness the incoming 45th US President’s inauguration on Friday. Filipino supporters are among the thousands headed to Washington DC to witness the ceremonies.

Dolly De Leon, an active Republican in Southern Nevada, said that Trump is a good catalyst to alleviate the relationship of the Philippines and the United States.

“We worked hard to campaign for Trump, and this is a once in a lifetime and I’m glad that he won,” De Leon told BA. “I’m glad that we are going to his inauguration.”

“As far as Filipinos are concerned, [Trump] will do well for everybody — as President of all Americans, of everybody who is here in the United States,” said supporter Norma Rivera. “That’s his policy, and I think he will fulfill all the things he promised, because that’s the type of guy that he is.”

Violy Horn, another Pinoy Republican, said that this will be a celebratory affair regardless of the divisive atmosphere that surrounded the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I hope that President Trump will bring in more trade deals, more relationship…so the economy of the Philippines will improve and probably create more jobs. Hopefully, there will be more investments going to the Philippines,” Horn said.

Horn added that the Trump administration is clearly a change from the past eight years of the Obama administration.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas casino moguls Steve Wynn, chairman of the Wynn resort and casinos, and Sheldon Adelson of Las Vegas Sands Corporation was among the inauguration committee to help organize the performers for America’s first billionaire president.
