RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was stabbed and strangled to death by a fellow Filipino in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Philippine Embassy said Monday.
The victim was identified as Monico Basco Manansala from Sasmuan, Pampanga who worked as a subcontract worker for Rimal Alswahel Co.
Authorities have not disclosed the suspect's name. The case is under investigation by Saudi police and the Philippine embassy.
"The 2 allegedly engaged in a fistfight that ended with the victim getting fatally stabbed by his fellow OFW,” said Assistance to Nationals Unit Officer at the Philippine Embassy Abdulhalim Langco.
The Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office will extend full assistance to both Filipinos and their families.
This is the third stabbing incident involving OFWs in Saudi Arabia.
On Sept. 26, a Filipino migrant worker who was terminated from work was shot dead after allegedly stabbing his manager and co-worker in Farasan Island, Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, a Filipino driver was killed by a fellow Filipino in front of the house of their employer in Jeddah on Oct. 2.
