MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday it was monitoring the reported kidnapping of a group of seafarers, including 2 Filipinos in Cameroon.
"The Philippine Embassy in Abuja, which has jurisdiction over Cameroon, is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure safety and security of the Filipino seafarers," the DFA said in a statement.
On Tuesday, armed men attacked a Greek-flagged oil tanker in the port of Limbe and abducted 8 of its crewmembers including 5 Greeks, 2 Filipinos and a Ukranian.
The victims were among the 28-member crew aboard the Happy Lady. -- With a report from Agence France-Presse
